Badminton Champions 2015

Connaught students had a fantastic day representing the school at the Waltham Forest Borough Badminton Competition, held at the Redbridge Sports Centre. Two teams represented Connaught in the Under 16's category and one team represented with the Under 14's competition.

Team A in the U16's won the competition overall for the third year in succession. They showed fantastic commitment and skill throughout the day and the students fitness levels were tested. Team A now go through to the next stage of the competition at the Copperbox Arena on the 10th February. Team B showed dedication and enthusiasm and their skills developed hugely as well as their confidence throughout the competition.

The Under 14's team came 3rd within their age group against 7 other schools. It was clear to see they had determination to play well throughout the competition. Their knowledge of scoring and how to win a point started to show in the later matches as they were understanding how to play competitively.

The students were approached by county players and invited to attend free training sessions on a Saturday morning. They all were an attribute to the school and should be proud of themselves. The effort they have been putting in along with Ms Izobo's coaching after school on Fridaysl has reaped great reward.

It has been a really amazing experience. The matches we played help us build more confidence. Hopefully we will succeed to the national leve championships.  Sehrish Chaudhary, Year 10.

Well done to all and thanks to Ms Izobo for her hard work with the Badminton Squad.
