Oxford University Visit
On the 28th of June, a group of year 10 students went on a trip to learn more about Oxford University and writing personal statements. We also attended a lecture, which linked maths and symmetry to Islamic art. The trip was extremely beneficial because it taught us more about the layout of Oxford and the different colleges that make up the university. We received a tour around St. Peter’s and Trinity College; we found this helpful as it showed us what life at Oxford is like. The lecture was also interesting as we learnt about how the symmetry used in Islamic art can be applied to different subjects like maths and science. The talk about personal statements was really informative and it gave us a glimpse of what we will need to be doing in the near future, to apply for university. We were also taught about the importance of GCSEs and super-curricular activities, including how, what we read now can give us an advantage when applying for university if it relates to the topic we want to study. Over all, the trip was really fun and insightful and it helped prepare us for university life.
